House Chantris is as old as Amber itself. The stories of the intellectual deeds live on in books found in the famous Chantris Library which is rumoured to be even grander than the Royal Library in Amber Palace.

On Tuesday, May 25 2010, Beatrice sent a +mail about past events:

Dear lovely family: About a decade ago, our cousin Allegra (younger sister of Nathan, elder sister of Prudence) was sailing about (possibly on the Coda) with her husband and their various children. During a particularly nasty storm (using storm-swept in shadow), there was a tragic loss overboard of young 8-year-old Narilia (as well as a master's mate). Anyone around at the time, or who has visited Allegra at the country estate, would know this.
